Emergency First Aid at Work

For people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community groups and activities, to provide first aid when dealing with an emergency situation. This qualification is based on the HSENI training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work courses for the purposes of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982

Topics covered include:

• Understanding the role and responsibilities of the first aider
• How to assess an emergency situation safely
• Managing an unconscious casualty
• Managing a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
• Managing a casualty who is choking
• First aid for a casualty who is bleeding externally
• First aid for a casualty suffering from shock
• Managing a casualty who has a minor injury

Certificate = 3 years
Duration = 6 hours
